The Visitor Center

Located inside the visitor center you’ll find the Science on a Sphere (SOS), a spherical screen projecting online data. Hundreds of programs are available including airline flights across the globe, current global earthquake activity, platonic shift over time, the shrinking of the rainforest, population mass across the globe, wind and weather patterns covering the earth, ocean currents, the asteroid belt, solar system, and hundreds of other informative and entertaining earth and space program. You can even walk around and stock up on all your Sheboygan merchandise from the gift shop.

Above and Beyond Children’s Museum

Whether it’s sunny or gloomy outside, you and your family can have a fun-filled day at the Above & Beyond Children’s Museum. The children’s museum is in downtown Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and has 3 floors of hands-on exhibits in over 10,000 feet of floor space. Climb through tunnels, up secret passages, sail through the Port of Sheboygan, and discover other activities to captivate your wildest imagination!

 Art Preserve of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center

The Art Preserve is an experimental space designed to house the Arts Center’s collection of over 35 artist-built environments. This epic building comprises of approximately 56,000 square feet and 37,000 square feet of it is dedicated to gallery spaces with visible storage, an education area, a library, a study collection, and an archive room on three different floors.

Blue Harbor Resort

On Sundays, head to South Pier, purchase a visitor’s pass at Blue Harbor, and lounge around the 54,000-square-foot entertainment area and indoor waterpark without a resort stay. The 84°F (28°C) park offers the ideal escape for both kids and parents. Explore the double surf simulator, float down Molly’s Moat lazy river, jump across the popular Lily Hopper, race someone down the slides, or dunk on the basketball hoops.

John Michael Kohler Arts Center

 The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is a contemporary art museum and performing arts complex. The center preserves and exhibits artist-built environments. Thousands of people walk through their doors to explore the ever-changing exhibits. But my favorite part that I love exploring is their washrooms. Yes, their washrooms! Each one is uniquely different and each time you visit it seems like you find something new on the painted walls, toilets, and sinks.

Sheboygan County Historical Museum

Calling out all history buffs. Tour around to the Weinhold Log Cabin, the Bodenstab Cheese Factory, the Schuchardt Barn, and the Taylor House. The Museum holds a rich and diverse collection of nearly 35,000 pieces, ensuring the history of the people, places, and lives of those who have called Sheboygan home.

Ideas Near Sheboygan

Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center

Spend a day at the Discovery Center exploring 10,000 square feet of self-guided interactive exhibits, seeing a local farm firsthand through a bus tour, or experiencing the miracle of birth in the birthing barn. Have a meal in the farm-to-table café or book your group outing in the conference center, and be sure to save room for ice cream and other treats in the Farm House Store. I think after your visit, you will have gained a deeper understanding of Wisconsin agriculture, food processing, and sustainable farming.

Kohler Design Center

The Kohler Design Center is the Kohler Company museum showcase of product design in Kohler, Wisconsin. Explore three levels that showcase innovation, product design, technology, creative achievement, and American history. Look through a fusion of old and new. As you walk through the building, the space offers a representation of Kohler Co.’s state-of-the-art products and stunning examples of gracious living and interior design.

The Throttlestop

If you are a fan of cars or motorcycles you are going to love this museum. Located in Elkhart Lake, not only can you explore Road America but also the Throttlestop. At the Throttlestop, visitors can get an up-close look at some of the rarest, most exotic, luxury, and vintage cars and motorcycles in the world.

Wade House Historical Site

Wade House Historical Site showcases the horse-powered world that existed before planes, cars, and railroads. Walk around the the grounds and explore the golden era of the carriage through the stagecoach inn and other historic structures, a state-of-the-art modern museum, and Wisconsin’s largest collection of carriages and wagons.
