On Acuity’s headquarter grounds, along Interstate 43, you’ll see this amazing Symbol of Freedom flying in the wind. This memorial is dedicated to the Sheboygan County residents killed in active duty.  This amazing flagpole and memorial can be visited any time you’d like! If you visit their website you can see if there are scheduled times when the flag may be temporarily down for maintenance.

Aloft and Free

When I first started to approach the memorial I was in such awe of its size. When you drive passed it on the interstate you can clearly see it is a huge structure. However, you do not truly get an understanding of it’s size until you are trying to wrap your arms around the base of the flagpole.

As you walk about the grounds you’ll notice names engraved into each brick to honor those fallen men and women. As you read the bricks and look up at the majestic flag bursts of emotions flood through your body. It is the type of place that is calm and quiet. It is a place to clear your head and pay your respects. If the weather is just right, walk the gravel path around the pond and gaze upon the flag from all angles.

I had to move further and further back to get this shot
