Sheboygan is the perfect place to get your fill of art.
Art has always played a huge role in Sheboygan’s culture. A few examples include Abstract Expressions Art Studio & Gallery, Sheboygan Visual Artists, Sheboygan Performing Arts, and John Michael Kohler Arts Center. While many may not have heard about The Sheboygan Project, it’s a highly recommended tour for art enthusiasts. I describe it as a translation of passion, creativity, and love through art.
The Sheboygan Project
This project aimed to connect artists with available wall space and resources to create unique site-specific works in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The link below shares the story behind the artist and their paintings. “The goal of this street art series was to create a more intimate relationship between the invited artists and the Sheboygan community receiving his or her art.” Their hope is to increase and strengthen the city’s public art and cultural diversity.
The great thing about this tour is that it’s right in town. There are 16 stops on the map and it’s easily labeled and marked. There is a suggested route, but you can also limit your tour to those works that interest you most. I went on the walking tour with a few of my friends. We didn’t have much time so we picked a few that were close to each other. I liked it because you were able to see different areas of town. You are able to stop in local restaurants and shops as you make your way to each featured art piece.
