Many of you may have heard about the new Green RX shop at 512 8th Street. This type of shop is one of few that can be found in Wisconsin and you’ll be amazed at the benefits of the products found inside. Their products range from Cannabidiol (CBD) infused products cold brew coffee to healthy snacks for your pet.
What are Cannabidiol (CBD) infused products?
CBD oil is made from extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. The concentrations and the uses of these oils vary.
Is CBD marijuana?
Cannabis is a family of plants with two primary classifications — Indica and Sativa. Hemp and Marijuana are species of Cannabis that are both members of the Cannabis Sativa family. However, Hemp and Marijuana are not the same thing! Due to each plant’s biological structure, they have several very distinct and crucial differences.
Marijuana contains both Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD), but these compounds have very different effects. THC is the most active ingredient in marijuana. It is the chemical that causes the sensation of getting “high.”
CBD is different!! Unlike THC, it is not psychoactive meaning that it does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it.
Because Hemp naturally contains a very low concentration of THC (0.3% or less), it is legal in most parts the world and is primarily used for industrial purposes. It is capable of producing food products, oils and so much more. The products that you will find at Green RX are sourced from Hemp, not Marijuana.
Are there Benefits?
Because CBD does not cause this “high” effect, it’s gaining momentum in the health and wellness world. Research suggests that it has many medical benefits! Therapeutic uses include relief from chronic pain, epilepsy, or other neurological symptoms and disorders. It could reduce anxiety disorders and depression . It has even been found to help reduce symptoms related to cancer and side effects related to cancer treatment, like nausea, vomiting and pain and other symptoms.
