Sheboygan Shipwreck!

The Lottie Cooper was a three-masted schooner that capsized and sank just off the Sheboygan harbor in 1894. It was discovered during the construction of the marina and she has been re-assembled at Deland Park, right along the Lakefront. It is estimated that there are nearly 10,000 shipwrecks in the Great Lakes, 700 of them on Lake Michigan and 62 of those just off Sheboygan. These underwater time capsules are some of the best-preserved shipwrecks in the world because of the lake’s cold and fresh water. If you want to take a dive yourself, visit and get coordinates for each shipwreck listed.

Fresh Water Surf Capital of the World!

Known around the globe as the “Malibu of the Midwest,” Sheboygan is the perfect spot for surfers. Sheboygan juts out five miles into the lake, sculpting incredible, rideable waves when winds of 20-25 mph blow from the northeast, east, or southeast. You can surf year-round, but the peak season is September-March. With water temperatures of 33 degrees, ice chunks and sub-zero wind chills, winter surfing is incredibly intense, and the fanatics can’t wait.
