DAY 1

When traveling with children, staying at Blue Harbor Resort & Spa is a no-brainer. Kids will love the KidAquarium or Boathouse Suites and, of course, they’ll love the Breaker Bay Waterpark and new Rip Tide Surf Simulator too! Take the morning to relax before planning a day at Bookworm Gardens. This enchanted masterpiece of imagination is worth the wait. Gracing the gardens is a life-size Hansel and Gretel house nestled in a forest setting among other over-sized playhouses and exhibits built for an interactive, engaging experience. Throughout the grounds you’ll find inspiring nooks and crannies hiding your favorite childhood stories.

Sprecher features distinctively delicious food, gourmet sodas for the kids, and craft beer for mom and dad. Located on the scenic Sheboygan River, Sprecher boasts tons of seating indoors and out, upstairs and down!

DAY 2

Fountain Park‘s menu is so expansive, there’s nary an old-fashioned diner dish you won’t find listed. From all-day breakfast and daily specials to meatloaf, egg salad, chicken strips, salads, soup, fish, pastas, Mexican fare, chicken, steaks, sandwiches and burgers. If your kids are picky eaters, they’ll find something here with no complaints any time of day and so will you!

After breakfast, head over to The GameBoard and see what they’re playing! At The GameBoard, you’ll find a large selection of classical, collectible, fantasy, educational and party games. If outdoor fun is the idea, Quarry Beach is a family-friendly water park that offers a wider variety of activities for the whole family. It’s an open-play water park with both shallow and deep water activities that are challenging and fun for all ages. There’s plenty of beach area for sunbathing, volleyball, sandcastles or just relaxing.

Next, stop at Above & Beyond Children’s Museum for the little ones, where kids are allowed to touch everything! They can climb a two-story tree house, move through the suspended sky crawl, land in the Music Mezzanine to play the Whompamaphone; then head off to play with any number of interactive exhibits. It’s fun, safe and, don’t tell them, but they just might learn something! At the John Michael Kohler Arts Center there’s always something interesting for kids to explore or create. More than likely, most kids will find the washrooms the best part. Yes – the restrooms at JMKAC are famous! Be sure to check the ARTery for a chance to create art and memories with your children.

Luigi’s Italian Restaurant specializes in cuisines with a distinctive Italian taste. From pizza to dinner, you will want to have more!

DAY 3

Spend the day on South Pier. Take the kiddos to Harbor Pointe Mini Golf – your handicap won’t help you in this game! Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sheboygan River while you battle through a kaleidoscope of obstacles. Next, wander across the street to Spaceport Sheboygan, home to the Great Lakes Aerospace Science and Education Center. Spaceport Sheboygan is a place where kids of all ages are welcome to explore interact exhibits, programs and events. Learn to land a space shuttle on a simulator or discover the secrets of space at one of their out-of-this-world events.

Cool off, reminisce away the afternoon and treat the family at South Pier Ice Cream Parlor, with classic fountain soda or homemade fudge. South Pier Parlor offers patio seating along the breezy riverfront.

DAY 1

Check into the Quality Inn and be treated to complimentary continental breakfast each morning before you set out to explore. Have a grand time at The GrandStay Suites, with kitchenettes for home cooking. Stay along Sheboygan’s riverfront at Harbor Winds Hotel and stroll down the river walk. If you want to rough it, visit Kohler-Andrae State Park. Each of the 137 units offers a campfire ring, so be prepared to make some s’mores and sleep under the stars.

For a farm fresh breakfast made from local ingredients, head downtown to Field to Fork, a welcoming, informal space where bakers and chefs produce artisanal breads and sweets, homemade soups, substantive sandwiches and wonderful salads. They feature in-house roasted coffee, a juice bar and seasonal produce. Spend some time relaxing in their cafe and organic grocery store.

Head out for a romp around Maywood Environmental Park. Journey 135 acres for friendly trails for leisurely walking, hiking or mountain biking. The Pigeon River winds through the park, offering plenty of opportunity for fishing or aquatic exploration. Explore natural springs, a butterfly garden, six diverse ecosystems, abundant wildlife, indigenous plant life, bird watching, scenic overlooks and photo opportunities galore. Check out Ecology Outfitters down the road to rent bikes, kayaks and snow shoes.

Majerle’s Black River Grill is nestled within the evergreen trees. They offer a fine menu of American cuisine, complemented with local favorites. If you’re not in the eating mood, sit at the bar and choose from a large selection of beer, wine and spirits.

DAY 2

A fishing shanty coffeehouse on the Sheboygan River, the scenery is a little different at the Weather Center Cafe. Known for its easy-going, hip nature, the Weather Center has become home to local artists. Its riverside patio is a favorite open mic spot of local musicians and aspiring songwriters, and the food and drinks are made with a smile.

Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park is 30 acres, with 64 camp sites surrounded by 14,000 acres of nature splendor and bountiful year-round activities for the outdoor enthusiast or even the indoor enthusiast who simply wants to take it easy for a while. The Sheboygan Marsh, Sheboygan River and Sheboygan Lake provide plenty of opportunity for canoe and row boat fun. If you’re looking for one of those breathtaking views, club the Marsh Tower – at 80 feet, it’s the tallest wooden observation tower in the State of Wisconsin.

DAY 3

Words cannot describe the beauty of the 988-acre Kohler-Andrae State Park. Beaches, sand dunes, hiking and biking trails through the woods, all right on Lake Michigan. Lay on the beach, build sand castles, spy on the natural wildlife, have a picnic, even play a little volleyball or baseball. For the kids, the Sanderling Nature Center is open May through October, and the park offers themed hiking programs throughout the season.

DAY 1

For a bit more adventure, stroll over to the Weather Center Café on the Riverfront and share a piece of overstuffed quiche and a giant homemade muffin before the short walk to Duke of Devon for Bloody Mary’s on the deck. Or, if you’re looking for a heartier, farm fresh breakfast, make the trip to Field to Fork for fresh-ground, fair-trade coffee and free-range eggs.

After breakfast, stroll through Fountain Park and enjoy the weekly Farmer’s Market. Be sure to pick up a bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers for your room.

A few blocks away, enjoy some time in the John Michael Kohler Arts Center galleries and gardens before relaxing on white sandy beaches.

If you’re feeling adventurous, book a sailing lesson at the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Club, and take home an experience you’ll be able to relive every time you return to Sheboygan. Once you learn to sail, join Sail Sheboygan and reserve a sailboat for each trip.

DAY 3

Take it easy. Explore the city’s art culture with a stroll down the Riverfront. Drive through Sheboygan County’s beautiful Kettle Moraine State Forest on your way home. The beauty in the summer beckons you to return for an explosion of colors in the fall.

DAY 1

For a spot down on the riverfront where the action is, check availability at Harbor Winds Hotel, within walking distance of Sheboygan’s downtown, or Dumper Dan’s Condominiums, right next to the charter fishing fleet. If you prefer to stay on the edge of town, check out the Holiday Inn Express with complimentary continental breakfast served every morning.

DAY 2

Sheboygan County boasts some of the best golf courses in the state and is one of the top golf destinations in the world, with Whistling Straights, host of the 2004, 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships, and the 2020 Ryder Cup, and Blackwolf Run, host of the 1998 and 2012 United States Women’s Open. You’ll also find The Bull at Pinehurst Farmswhich is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Gold Course in the state. The area is also home to courses for golfers of all levels including traditional gems such as Riverdale Country Club and Quit Qui Oc Golf Course.

DAY 3

Did you know that Sheboygan is the Fresh Water Surf Capital of the World! Head downtown and check out EOS Surf Shop, Wisconsin’s only surf shop. Rent a kayak, stand up paddle board or try surfing!

Don’t forget to book a charter fishing excursion while you’re here! Sheboygan offers some of the best trout and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, with some of the best charter fleets in the state. Then, whatever you catch, be sure to take it to Schwarz Fish Market to have it smoked, processed and shipped home.

After a long day on the lake, stroll down South Pier and stop at Angler’s Avenue Pub & Grill and Angler’s Avenue Pro Shop. Angler’s Pro Shop is Lake Michigan’s friendliest tackle store. The Grill offers a full menu of great homemade foods that are sure to please your appetite. Friday nights are the hottest night with their famous fish fry.
