Memorial Day weekend is an occasion of remembrance and honor to those who died in military service. These brave men and women who ultimately sacrificed their lives for their country are truly America’s heroes! We would like to recognize and thank all those who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. Your service to our country is greatly appreciated!
The City of Sheboygan will be having a Memorial Day Parade, on Monday, May 26th, at 9:00 a.m. The parade which has been organized by the VFW Post 1230 since 2009 will feature 49 parade units. The parade route will clearly be marked “No Parking.”
The parade route is as follows. The parade starts at N. 8th Street and Center Avenue. The parade units will proceed north on 8th Street, towards Superior Avenue. The parade will continue west on Superior Avenue, to North 9th Street. From North 9th Street, the parade will continue south, concluding at Fountain Park.
The Memorial Day Program will be held at the Fountain Park Band Shell following the parade at approximately 10:00 a.m. This year’s featured speaker for the program at Fountain Park is John Scocos, the Secretary of Wisconsin Veteran’s Affairs.
It is permissible to put out lawn chairs and blankets 4 hours PRIOR (5:00 a.m.) to the start of the parade.
